Recent Vishing Scam

We have received information in relation to the latest Vishing Scam.
People have been receiving calls from mobile phone numbers stating the caller is from the “Garda FIU” and that “suspicious transactions” have taken place on "your account”.
These calls are fraudulent!

If you receive an unexpected text message from a phone number suggesting to be the Credit Union NEVER click on any links contained within the message.

Protecting you and your account from fraud

To counteract the threats posed by scams and fraudsters, Athenry Credit Union advise that you keep in mind the points below which will help increase the security of your personal information:

  • NEVER open an email or attachments from people you do not know.
  • NEVER give or confirm your BIC and IBAN over Email, Social Media or Messaging Services.
  • NEVER share your Online Banking Login PIN with anyone else.
  • DO NOT use a computer or device that you do not trust to access Athenry Credit Union Online Banking or Banking App.
  • AVOID logging into your Credit Union account over an unsecured public Wi-Fi network.
